By allocating 30% of the sales of Sebastien’s original paintings towards A Mother’s Wish, we organised and subsidised activities for autistic individuals during school holidays. In the caring environment we strove to create, professionals worked with parents/home helpers and volunteers to offer engaging experiences for our participants.

 

Nonetheless, Sebastien continued to struggle with life in Singapore — a miniature city-state that was akin to a cage for him. Singaporeans who witnessed his odd, but non-threatening, behaviours, would often report him to the police. After suffering from Sebastien’s aggression for almost six years, Jerome (my life partner) and I made the heartbreaking decision of moving him to Bali and breaking up our family.
