Painting Series by Jean-Sebastien Choo, Self-taught Autistic Artist #13— Finding My Bali Flow

(16 x 8 in, water color and poster color, canvas panel, SGD140 + shipping)

This is one of the paintings that Sebastien painted during his first year of staying in Bali. For those who have read my book, Where Does My Autistic Son Belong (https://www.amotherswish.com.sg/product-page/crowdfunding-pledge-s-30), you would have known that it was a heartbreaking and terrifying time for us all. We were all grieving and struggling with this new reality, even though Sebastien had wanted very much to live in the nature of Bali. But it was not easy living in a foreign land with carers who did not fully empathise with him at the time. Well, four years later, we can genuinely celebrate Sebastien’s new life with his carer team who has been doing a fantastic job over the past two years. So this painting is a reminder of how far Sebastien has come along in persevering to live in a place where he can belong.
