PROFOUND AUTISM ART SANCTUARY

Thank you to many of you who responded to my previous post and validated the paintings of Sebastien, my profoundly autistic son, as “art”, even though he doesn't set out intentionally to make art. He paints because it is a safe space where he has complete control. On a rainy day, and when it is gray everywhere, painting allows him to tell himself that "it’s okay".
But it doesn't mean what he creates is not beautiful. What he produces in the moment in time — his artwork — is what he feels and who he is. Despite his profound difference from norms, his art may still enable him to have a livelihood that accords with his true being.
